WordPress CMS: Sample Project
September 24th, 2004, 14:02
After a long, long research and many frustrating tests I’ve finally decided to stick with a modified WordPress as an easy CMS solution. Why? All the other scripts are either loaded to the rim with functions, have strange concepts which your customers definitly wont get along with, got too bloody single-minded code, etc. etc.
So I’m going to use my own ‘official’ website as an example for setting up and modifying WordPress to work as a complete CMS. It’ll be half-dynamic, meaning there are pages which are more statically and pages, which are less. First one does count eg. for my hosting plans, that get generated via another SQL-table, but the main data doesnt change all the way. This does count for other stuff, too - like the contact form, the references, etc.
To make this creation process more transparent, I’m going to add another category, only for this project, to my weblog. In there you are going to find all the news about the current state of development.
Talking about development: at the current state, I’d like to introduce you to my internal structogram files, which I’m using at every project, every site I’m working on. These are plain text files, are always in the main (’root’) directory of the project and are also always called !struct.txt. I’m going to add an example, the struct-file of this very project soon, but first I oughta translate it.
